Are you looking for a way to enjoy your pool even after the summer has ended? There’s more than just one way to heat your pool during the fall months. Add or combine some of the below methods to keep your pool going well into the wintertime.
Add a Heating System
By adding a heating system to your pool, you can easily get an extra 4 months of swim time, and depending on the type of system installed, you might be able to enjoy your pool year-round. There are many options for you to choose from depending on the size of your pool, the climate in your area, and your budget. The most popular options available include solar water heaters, solar mats, heat pumps, natural gas, and heat exchangers.
Cover It
A quality insulating pool cover can reduce heat loss by approximately 50% depending on your climate. The cover also stops water from evaporating which takes the heat and pool chemicals with it. Simply place the cover over your pool when it’s not in use to retain the suns energy during the day and to prevent heat loss at night.
Try Liquid Pool Covers
If you’re planning to use your pool a lot and don’t want to deal with adding and removing a solar cover every time you want to swim, you might want to consider using a liquid solar pool cover instead. This liquid creates a thin layer that sits on the top of your pool to prevent water evaporation which causes heat loss. It’s a perfectly safe and biodegradable way to raise the temperature of your pool a few degrees higher.
Add Solar Rings
You can also add up to 20,000 BTU’s of heat per day by adding solar rings to your pool. These round, floating rings are just like mini-solar covers that connect with magnets. They can add more heat during the day or help you to reduce energy costs by turning down your heating source at night.
Build a Windproof Enclosure
If you want to stop the wind from removing the heat you pump into your pool, you should consider adding a pool enclosure. By building a windproof enclosure you can prevent the pool from losing heat during the colder months and make the pool more accessible when it’s raining or snowing outside.
